Sealy & Company signs Missco Corporation of Jackson for 52,620 Square Feet at Sealy Ashland Distribution Center

NEW ORLEANS, March 2, 2010 – Sealy & Company, Inc. announced today that MISSCO Corporation of Jackson d/b/a School Book Supply of Louisiana signed a lease at Sealy’s new 147,385 square foot Sealy Ashland Distribution Center in Gonzales, Louisiana and will occupy 52,620 square feet. MISSCO’s occupancy is scheduled for April of 2010.
Ben Johnson of NAI/Latter & Blum represented the tenant. Negotiations for Sealy & Company, Inc. were handled by Director of Marketing & Leasing Jennifer A. Lee, CCIM, SIOR, and Daniel P. Poulin, CCIM, SIOR, Senior Regional Director. “This brings our Class “A”, multi-tenant, tilt wall concrete warehouse facility to 86% occupancy”, remarked Poulin.
Shortages of good, high quality industrial buildings remain following Hurricane Katrina in the East Baton Rouge submarket – especially buildings with truck doors. The quantity of vacant and available land suitable for industrial and heavy commercial development continues to decline in East Baton Rouge Parish and demand is noticeably increasing in Ascension Parish. The logical growth for new office/warehouse construction and industrial development is outside of the East Baton Rouge Parish lines along the I-10 and I-12 corridors. “Projects like the Sealy Ashland Distribution Center are benefiting from the continued growth in Ascension Parish, even after the economic slowdown” said Poulin.
