Sears, Secretary/Treasurer of Sealy and Company, Inc. joined the company in August of 1989 as Controller of the Finance department. Calvin is responsible for the management and operation of the finance department. He also oversees the company's financial reporting process and the personal financial affairs of the company's principals. Calvin has worked in finance and accounting since graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University in Shreveport in 1981. In 1983, Calvin earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Louisiana State University in Shreveport. He also is a Certified Public Accountant in Louisiana and Texas. During his tenure with the company, Calvin has led his department through three major computer conversions. He has expanded the benefit program from a simple Health plan to a full-integrated benefits program, which includes a 401K retirement plan, disability insurance, dental coverage, cafeteria plan, and life insurance. Calvin's strengths lie in his ability to maximize the productivity of the financial team through integration of technology and teamwork. In addition to his contribution to the company, Calvin
is involved with the community in various capacities. He has severed as
vice president of the LSU-S Alumni Association for two terms. In 1997, he
was Chairman of Downtown YMCA Committee of Management and a member of the
Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Shreveport-Bossier
YMCA. Sears was the founder and director of the "First Run," a
five kilometer race-raising money for "at risk" children in the
Shreveport-Bossier area.
